I no longer have my BC220 and haven't tried this trick. To search 136 - 144 MHz: 1. turn the set off and on to clear the memory 2. manually select any channel 3. enter 136.0 MHz 4. enter 144.0 and press LIMIT 5. press SEARCH (reads ERROR) 6. press LIMIT (reads 136.0 MHz) 7. press SEARCH You may restrict this out of band search sequence further once steps 1 through 7 have been executed. While the receiver is searching, open the squelch at whatever frequency you would like to select as the upper search limit; then: a. press 136.0 LIMIT b. press SEARCH (reads ERROR) c. press LIMIT (reads the frequency at which you stopped searching) d. press SEARCH and close squelch again to resume searching A number of frequency ranges may be substituted for the example above, but only in the early versions of the BC220 with the older microprocessors. -- ============================================================================ Bob Parnass, AJ9S - AT&T Bell Laboratories ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Note: I haven't tried or verified this, proceed at your own risk.
